Hyundai Tucson Review

Hyundai Tucson

2012 Hyundai Tucson

It takes a lot of imagination to find something in common between Arizona and Ukraine. Thanks to Hyundai, however, common ground exists. In 2004, the Koreans decided to name its new compact SUV Tucson city, and later began production in Lutsk. “Twinning” as two different latitudes shows how well Tucson was greeted everywhere.

It is sold as equally strong in the U.S. and in Europe, after the debut of the new generation this year his presence in the secondary market will surely increase. The bad news for bargain hunters is that the small SUV keeps prices high. Good – there’s a reason.

Skeptical about the quality of work in the former Soviet republics can be relaxed. Assembled in Ukraine copies are intended for domestic and Russian markets, and do not step on anything produced in Korea cars. Even some strange ways to come across such a SUV, the only thing you can fear a potential owner is not well stocked with freon air conditioning.

Unlike many other models in this segment that are just hechbekove or wagons with increased ground clearance, Tucson reminded of the small version of a true SUV. A modified platform of Elantra, but does boast a massive

high profile tires, powerful front bumper and a thick belt of strips around the perimeter of the body, which protects it from damage when driving off-road. It has excellent corrosion preparation, but painted black moldingi often suffer from under body varnish after washing water stream. Despite the high ground clearance (195 mm) access to

is convenient. All seats are soft and spacious, although the front does not provide the necessary lateral support. Build quality is typical for Hyundai, but the strength of the materials has a lot to be desired. Plastics scratch easily, textile upholstery is dirty and wear out very quickly.

Visibility from the driver’s seat is good, although the left column of the windshield limiting it slightly. The salon is spacious and provides ample space for five passengers. The functionality is also level. Back of the front passenger seat folds down and allows the carriage of very long loads or using it for a table. The rear bed is also regulated by almost vertical to lying semi position and the rear window opens separately from the tailgate.

Tucson is equipped with two petrol and one diesel

The base two-liter engine (141 hp) has a decent draft, but spends at least two liters more than 10.4 catalog. Quite a rare 2.7-liter six-cylinder version (175 horses), there is nothing strange. While it fits over the SUV, the cost of maintenance and service are not affordable to everyone. Optimal model is two-liter diesel with 112 hp especially forced version VGT, by whose 140 horses and 305 Nm of torque oil Tucson excels in dynamic small gasoline version.

Operating experience indicates that all bikes are reliable and trouble only incorrect operation. Poor quality diesel fuel easily incapacitating booster pump in the tank and untimely oil change in four-cylinder petrol engine usually leads to smudging valve system modification phase timing CVVT. The problem is expressed in dramatic loss of power. Cleaning does not always work and sometimes need to rotate the valve. All engines are equipped with timing belts that need to be replaced 60,000 km with tensioning rollers.

Besides AWD, Hyundai Tucson is produced in versions with front drive axle. These modifications, however, account for only 15-ish percent of total sales. Otherwise, a hard, dry surface using Korean front-wheel drive SUV. The rear axle is automatically turned on probuksuvane with electronically controlled clutch. If necessary, it can be forced through the block button on the dashboard and starting torque is transmitted equally to both axles. Upon reaching 40 km / h blockade off and goes into the transmission output mode. In automatic address

practically not criticize. Manual are not so benign. Exports synchromesh in second and third gear, making it difficult to “force” them. After a run of 150,000 for worn bushings gaps often occur in the switching mechanism. It is good view of the cars produced in 2007 to check the condition of the gasket axle.

Hyundai Tucson boasts one of the most comfortable rides in the segment. However dislikes Korean SUV aggressive driving style. In making a turn at a high speed roll occurs tangible and boards of high profile tires be folded. Steering features an informative and a bad car obediently follows the specified trajectory. Confidence gives way systems ESP course stability and anti spin TCS, entering basic equipment.

The model is a fully independent MacPherson strut front and rear mnogolostova structure. Chassis lies one of the few drawbacks of Tucson. The front definitely lacks resources – bushings and stabilizer stands are transmitted after only 30 to 40,000 km. The cars of the last year of production are suffering from worn pads on the front subframe where is a need for change after 20 to 30,000 km.

Apple compounds are not very durable. Much higher reliability demonstrated the rear axle, which then calls 120 to 150,000 km. Steering also showed some weaknesses. After a run of 70 to 80 thousand kilometers may leak some seals and tabs on the steering rods are usually changing.

While not perfect, Hyundai Tucson, deserves attention. Korean SUV combines practicality, functionality and very good equipment, and generally has an excellent reliability.

Comments from owners of Hyundai Tucson

Here I made a half years and 6,000 km with my Hyundai Tucson and decided to share impressions:

No comments. Sales representative showed exemplary behavior. I am delighted with the service as a whole. The price is low class.

5 years or 150 thousand kilometers. No comment.

Several times I’ve visited them also reacted very quickly. Bravo!

From this class I liked much more than Kia Sportage and Kia Sorento. Compared to Toyota Rav4 seemed more comfortable first that is wider and second that the spare tire is in the back door (I know from personal experience what it is uncomfortable). Chevrolet Captiva looks good from the outside, inside I have no idea how. Placement of lights and lighting is good. Tailgate window can only be opened, which is a good convenience. The two front doors that are operated continuously, began to stick a little.

Broad’s little more than 190 cm and I’m perfect and the rear. Three people back together without a problem. Adjusting the driver’s seat and steering wheel are good and comfort is achieved. Controls are less than arm’s length. The dashboard is clear from the various “trinkets”. There armrest that can hold either a bottle of beer was something small. The sound is terrible – factory speakers deliver sound like school radio.

Much better than the Suzuki Vitara, it reminds me of the VW Golf 3. Shortly soften by washing load in the trunk. As maneuverability can not expect much – parking lot is packed with 2-3 maneuver sharp turns not taken close etc.

Leverage is convenient – hem slightly to switch, it becomes leaning on the armrest. As I reached a top speed up to 160 km / h, maybe more. Perhaps one track will see what options are max but our highways afraid to oversteer more than 160 and two tons iron center of gravity higher than 1/2 width.

Overall I can say that I am very pleased. Comfortable is a long time in town. Taking advantage of positioning is not a problem. So I would recommend Hyundai Tucson to anyone headed to class + price + size. If you have more funds – Hyundai Santa Fe.
