Skoda Fabia Review

The new generation of Skoda Fabia will be available in 2014

Skoda Fabia

Skoda Fabia 2012

Skoda Company is on the threshold of major upgrades to its model range. This year started production of the new model Rapid, which will be placed on the market between the models Fabia and Octavia. In the following 2013 and the Czechs will show another best seller generation Octavia, developed a new platform, and in 2014 comes the third generation of the Skoda Fabia.

This car will be developed on a new platform modular global MQB (Modular Transverse Matrix) of the Group parent Volkswagen, which will give the industry more interior space and luggage capacity increased. The current Fabia offers 315 liters of luggage, and the new will be room for 350 liters luggage, the second-largest after that of the Honda Jazz. Following the logic of “growing up” of each new generation and the new Fabia will have increased wheelbase and is lighter due to the use of high-strength steel.

The design of the car is the new style, the model has demonstrated Rapid and first shown the kind of concept Skoda VisionD. In fact, this new style of Skoda will surprise us with something really new because not only Skoda, but “Mom” Volkswagen adheres to a conservative design style and do not allow too much wiggle to the benefit of design ideas. The interior in this car will be much better quality and more spacious.

Under the hood you will see a new generation of engines – advanced 1.2-liter, three-cylinder engines – diesel TDI and TSI petrol engine offering a power bandwidth from 70 to 120 hp In fact, capacity will be much different than the current engines, but the new engines will be more efficient in their work. Likely sporty RS version of the new car will have a current capacity of 180 “horses” because of the rather limited demand, but the designation does not disappear. It will be used for slightly less forced version of the car with 140 hp.

Who can compare prices and believe you will quickly notice that the Fabia is better Polo. Within the Group has long been said that Skoda makes the best Volkswagens. Fabia is available in cutting edge factory in Mlada Boleslav near Prague. Crystal making body is immediately noticeable in the eyes.

The details fit perfectly with each other, the doors close silently and precisely. As for engines, the focus of customer attention are the popular turbodiesel indication TDI. As low buzz to guess that in terms of cultivation competition now offers better.

1.4 The two gasoline engines with power 60 or 68 hp based on an old Czech own work, while the powerful are identical to those of the VW Polo or in the case of 2.0-liter with 115 horses on the VW Golf. The city is the Fabia makes easy a turning circle of 10.8 meters, which combined with its light steering gained fame very maneuverable vehicle.

In the Czech Republic’s urban riding also performed very well. The suspension reacts to bumps in the road without rocking body and passengers. The car allows precise ride and surprisingly high speed cornering. Skidding of the front wheels to the outer edge of the boundary curve sets.

In the cabin there is sufficient space in front of the freedom movement is unrestricted, even two adults back feel better. Due to the ability of the wheel to be adjusted vertically and axially driver quickly finds a comfortable position.

Very nice and all controls are in the gym – steering wheel, gear changes and other instruments on board a moving light that precision quality work differs from the call of cheap tricks.

The trunk of the hatchback is decent, but the sedan is a straight spatial miracle. Estate was a bit disappointing in terms of trunk. Desired size is obtained only when removing the seat.

The security level is high. ABS and four airbags are standard equipment in most models (equipment is minimized in cheap versions as Junior). The brakes are strong, the body is solid and has proven its protective effect in many crash tests.

Costs are the best thing in the Fabia, especially when it comes to petrol engines. In the TDI should be considered good if expensive servicing will melt advantage of fuel. It is important to know that when turbo Fabia Euro 3 emissions standard cover, while at the same motors meet Euro 4 Polo.

Skoda Fabia

Fabia is a complete small car, excellent regulations covering all disciplines, from urban driving small sections in a long time. Furthermore, excellent chassis settings and provide a great deal of driving pleasure.

Pros: quality workmanship, comfortable seats, good handling, high standard of security, comfort suspension

Cons: poor visibility, noisy diesel, cheap interior materials

The most common injuries Electric and Electronics: interference in the management of motor defective or broken belts Generators, motors burned wiper not working electric windows Drive: Defective or worn connectors

Test drive: Skoda Fabia (6Y) – 1.4 16V (100 Hp)

Seat and Skoda are undoubtedly the most rapidly growing car brands in Europe. The credit for this, of course, belongs to the parent company Volkswagen and especially the policy of unification, which in Wolfsburg lead early in the 90-year ghee.

Its rules are simple – new technologies first tested in models of subsidiaries, upgrade and then being applied to the German “prototype”. That’s what happened with the twins Arosa and Lupo, a little later, Octavia and Golf IV. So timed, depending on the type of “built using …” slightly confused.

As the official version states that Skoda Fabia uses the platform of Volkswagen Polo IV. It remains unclear how this occurs grip provided that the Czech bestseller sold by 1999, and his German “donor” released nearly two years later.

Obviously marketing strategists space-time continuum does not really matter, does and who could blame them. Successor Felicia was such a quality and successful model that ultimately no one cares about consistency. Customer and producer was important that Fabia “slew” competition in almost all European countries with German and Czech ancestry prices.

Five years after its debut, “Polo-of Mlada Boleslav it” continues to spend as fresh cakes at Easter. Švejk earthlings to show no less zeal than their German landlords and constantly enrich the range in which everyone is now a thing – hatchback, sedan, wagon, eight petrol and two diesel versions, three trim levels and a lavish number of special performances .

International capitalism replace communism? Sure, but so far no complaints heard …

Fabia successfully landed, and the market for used cars where the compact Czech chances are not bad. In absolute constant technological parameters Volkswagen Polo and Seat Ibiza, Skoda-worth so much less.

Price determined mostly age but the origin of the model seems to say the word. Strange as it may sound, there are still people who believe in Wolfsburg would staked his reputation for the sake of a few hundred euros and would compromises on quality.

Yes, Fabia car is not perfect, and like any other used car requires attention when buying. In structural terms, however, is its compact Skoda Volkswagen, which automatically makes it one of the most suitable alternatives in class.

In Teutonic roots of the model sufficiently eloquent everything ranging from the design of the body and lead to quality workmanship. The spacious lounge, neat and clearly dashboard without excessive and unnecessary stuff on it and skillfully selected materials hardly give rise to criticism. Naturally, flaws can be found.

For almost two years Fabia playing the role of guinea pig, which Volkswagen eliminate potential defects future Polo. Among these childhood diseases in statistics stands damaged the air conditioner temperature sensor. Its price is high, but its replacement must be dismantled entire dashboard. For engineering nuisance is also considered the location of the air filter, which provides ventilation.

He mires with dirt very quickly and makes the air circulation in the system. If we exclude the entrails of the first two years of production, the construction is a real Fabia Volkswagen – perfect corrosion protection, high quality varnish and tight fit.

It arrives in our latitudes with sufficient preparation. Clearance often is insufficient. Joke can play more like trying to go down backwards from high street as there is no shortage in big cities. If the giant front bumper clipped the curb, it concerns the whole “face” of the Skoda-th.

Like all of the cosmopolitan family of Volkswagen, Czech small car is privileged to draw with handfuls of huge arsenal of power units that are weapons in Wolfsburg. Right from the start of production at lower archaic engine camshaft and swept volume 1.4 liters left in the legacy of Felicia, was replaced by the much more modern German bikes with 75 and 100 hp

Fits also the old two-liter VW warrior with 115 horses and recently at least a half motorche smaller volume of Lupo was replaced by a three-cylinder engine with 54 or 63 hp Diesel fans can choose from the simple-SDi (68 hp) or high-tech wonders TDi (100-130 horse), whose properties are well known.

It is powerful but extremely efficient turbodiesel considered most suitable for the Fabia alongside the 1.4-liter petrol engine. Their support, however, requires a very responsible attitude, skilled service and quality fuels.

All motors mounted on the Fabia, are extremely durable and reliable. For timely service problems are practically excluded. The drawbacks are minor and are removed over time. Many drivers, such as hard with convened dimmer accelerator. In cars the first year of production, he pressed a little harder.

Also from this period were mostly of leaking gaskets and hoses of the cooling system, which pose a risk of overheating. In addition to the standard 5-speed manual transmission compact Skoda is equipped with a 4-range machine. Chronic disease transmission are unknown, although there were situations in which the car is driven with a little butter

unacceptable.

Blame for the fall in its level is not well thought out ventilation gearbox lubricant for which breaks through seals and gaskets. Particularly susceptible to this defect is fifth gear. In this area place bolts, the removal and cleaning problem. The remaining nodes are very simple and reliable. In softer terms, for example, the clutch disc will “seek” pension after 200-250 thousand km.

Criticism suspension Fabia hear quite often. The only exceptions are the bearings in the front hub from which to complain as owners and mechanics. In their native conditions, sometimes life ends at 35 to 45 thousand kilometers. Change together with the hub and not cheap, and even the replacement work is thankless, expensive respectively. Often broken down and the front stabilizer bushings. Replacing them with ones that will plastic elements solves the problem almost forever.

Cars from the first year of the Fabia experiencing some unusual problems for VAG wiring. The most unpleasant of them is damage to the control unit power windows mounted in the driver’s door. The defect is due to a purely constructive confusion of thought. The block is located in terminals up and moisture penetrates freely into it. In rare cases “busy” hatch and shoot bulbs, but for chronic diseases is exaggerated to speak of.

Comments from owners of Skoda Fabia

Skoda Fabia

Skoda Fabia 2009 Combi

I have 54 horses Fabia 1.2 for almost two years (17,000 km.) And I am very pleased with the terms of robustness and reliability. So far I’ve only changed the oil and filters and I do not think it will soon have to touch each other. Although three-cylinder engine is sufficiently dynamic. The thing I do not like is the cost under 8.5/100 I do not fall in the city, so I recommend motor oil. In short, the car is pretty good.

My now 4 years / 60,000 km. So far no problems underneath. One month before collapsing sensor power steering, which is the first problem with it. And for plastics – it is true that they start to squeak, especially grate air windshield.

Personally, I am the owner of such a model Skoda Fabia 1.9 SDI. great car! And it is economical diesel (up to 4 sticks of 100 at a rate of 100 to 120 km / h in a long time). For now (ie 50,000 km for two and a half years) no problems with the car. The important thing is to swap the time the engine oil as recommended, on time and with quality oils.

Until recently as owner of 64 hp 1.2 12V I can say that the engine and gearbox are well calculated and normal driving it feels like the car more powerful than it is. Reasons – three-cylinder engine loosens fairly quickly and gives its maximum

Skoda Fabia

Skoda Fabia 1.2 2011

torque at 3000 rpm – much lower than most four-atmospheric.

I never had to shift from fifth gear to fourth for climbing. For comparison –  Citroen Xsara Picasso 8.1 115 hp with three people on board denied a fifth to lift more than 110 in almost equal time. The same place Fabia slowly but irrevocably accelerates to 130 in fifth gear.
