The new Volkswagen Polo – more larger, more powerfull, more aggressive

VW Polo

2011 VW Polo GTI

The fifth-generation Volkswagen Polo is here. The affordable model has become more elegant, powerful, efficient and spacious than its predecessor. Obviously headquarters in Wolfsburg once again raising the bar.

The new VW Polo is 36 mm longer, 32 mm wider and 13 mm lower than the old model.

It seems the company have shot two birds with one stone, because despite his large figure, the new model is 7.5% lighter. This means that travel in greater comfort with more storage without adversely affecting the performance of compact engines.

The new Polo comes with five new units. For the first time under the hood of the model is mounted on a diesel engine with direct injection Common-Rail. The range starts from 1.2 and 1.4-liter normally aspirated petrol engines going through the 1.2 TSI turbocharged and diesel fans can count on a brand new 1.6-liter TDI.

All are equipped with 5 and 6-speed manual gearbox. Some variants can be ordered with a new lightweight seven-speed DSG transmission, the extra cost of course.

Soon after the debut of the car to join engines and 1.6 liter BlueMotion common-rail diesel with 90 hp. According to the manufacturer, it needs only 3.8 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers and throw the ’96 / km CO2 emissions. In 2010 debuted BlueMotion 2 version, which was even greener – 3.32 l/100 km and 87 g / km of carbon dioxide.

“Volkswagen Polo” – the new European champion

Pipsqueak Wolfsburg ahead with little “Toyota iQ” in the race for “Car of 2010 in Europe”

“Volkswagen Polo” was named Car of 2010 in Europe. Compact model received 347 points in the vote to 59 journalists from 23 European countries.

All jury members are awarded points on the small VW, a whopping 25 of them are ranked first car in their lists, write-Speed Press.

Among the main features of “Polo,” the jury is the new 1.2-liter TSI engine, excellent driving dynamics and affordability.

The main competitor of “Volkswagen” in this year’s competition (CaroftheYear.org) was an innovative model, “Toyota iQ”, which remained in second place, just 10 points behind “Polo”.

Unconventional ultra-compact car was ranked number 20 by the judges. Low running costs and high levels of safety are the main advantages of the iQ.

In third place was the new “Astra” to “Opel”, which achieved 221 points, a result that is far from the first two cars.

Most of the jury members indicated new “Opel Astra” a very good model, but only 5 of them put it at the top of their lists.

Surprisingly well in this competition is a compact SUV rated “Skoda” – “Yeti” which exceeds the luxurious Mercedes E-class, crossover “Peugeot 3008” and ranked last of seven finalists “Citroen C3 Picasso.”

The new Volkswagen Polo GTI – a small rocket

Before the world premiere of the new Polo GTI, which was held in Geneva in early March 2010, Volkswagen released the initial photos and information about hot modification. Its sales started shortly after the show, it is available in versions with three or five doors.

The car has received a 1.4-liter TSI engine, also used by Seat Ibiza Cupra. It produces 180 hp and its maximum torque is 250 Nm. and is available in the range from 2000 to 4500 rev / min.

The new “pocket rocket” Volkswagen has a drive to the front wheels, power is transmitted to them through a seven-speed DSG dual clutch transmission. The car is able to accelerate from 0-100 km / h in less than 7 seconds. and develop approximately 225 km / h.

Volkswagen Polo GTI has also received upgraded suspension and a limited slip differential XDS, which again is borrowed from the Seat Ibiza Cupra.

Polo model image of one of the best in its class, the exceptions prove the rule. When in the market in ’75 came the first Polo specialized press triumphant “finally German Mini”. Much later in ’94 with the introduction of the Generation III model is already clear away from the typical small car formats. This in-house code Polo 6N has versions with three or

five doors, excellent chassis settings and comfort.

The third generation model was offered initially in ’94 with three gasoline engines. A little later came 1.9 SDI diesel 64 horse. Wasteful 1.3 liter petrol engine stays in the program only seven months and was replaced by 1.4 liter. As low motorche with 45 horses continue to be offered. Only in ’96 his place in the lineup of engines was employed by a newly developed liter engine that mobilizes five horsepower more.

At the same time, a sports and 1.4 16V with 100 horses, and two years later the GTI version with 120 hp The sector also had the diesel variety. More than 96, the program has a direct injection diesel engine without turbo – 1.9 SDI. Then in ’97 came and celebrated TDI engine with 90 or 110 hp

Which motor is most appropriate depends on the purpose of use, it is clear that only two basic motors are afflicted with severe Polo. The interior space in the cabin is spacious, regardless of which version of the model in question. Volume presented in the trunk of ’95 Classic (sedan) is 470 liters, which is reaching the high end. Wagon, which comes from the summer of ’97, has more space.

From a security perspective, there are two airbags Polo series of 95, and next year are offered side. On the 97th the board already has a serial ABS. Many older individuals are also equipped with ABS, ordered as an extra. In Germany, by saying “Polo” means smaller version with three or five doors.

Sedan and wagon have side effects and are a favorite of buyers out there that lowers their price and makes them interesting offers. Polo proves the thesis that models “mature” with age. In particular, this model is even more so because older individuals can bring great trouble – frozen motors etc. However, the arguments “against” old Polo are great if it is a well maintained specimen.

Comments from owners of VW Polo

In Auto Bild since April 2005 has very strong feature of the VW Polo. Stretching across four pages. So much is the collar that I never took the Polo.

1. High cost of fuel in relatively small displacement engine.
2. Short service intervals though the system Long LIfe Service.
3. Difficulties with the clutch. (In cold weather freezes).
4. Faulty ignition coils.
5. Electric the opening / closing windows fail often.

There are a lot of pluses thing is that I got tired of looking transcribe cons how big the list.

I had one like that, but petrol / 1.4 / for women. Surprisingly economical car. Jump spends half compared to the car that I drive. / It and its dimensions are half /. For going out of town. Many rocking and shaking. A friend of my wife has just 1.9 SDI-slowly, but the cost is around 4.5-5.5 / 100 km.

VW Polo

VW Polo Tuning GTI Cup Edition

A friend took a new Polo from it and am fascinated by consumption. I think the bike is a three-cylinder 1.4 and 4-5 urban forests and goes pretty decent. I drove it a few times, very nice car …
About counterpart city car is perfect – you spend less, park it almost anywhere, inexpensive maintenance.

I personally drive a car in this class right now and there is no mistake in the city, only urban highway and a little uncomfortable. For example, overtaking is difficult, and at higher speeds the car is unstable. If you decide to take the best is gasoline, diesel fuel cause you will not be much less maintenance and there will come more.

We have one (1.9SDI) average cost 5 – 5.5 and goes very well in the city, far better cons are suffering from gearbox – and fifth running speed remained dry so it’s not bad to be checked often. Another awkward moment wrote it a fellow up – outside the city is not going well, very short gearbox to 140 km / h is almost red.

Post for VW POLO / TDI 1.4, 70 hp 1,999

Impressions of the interior of VW POLO:

The body is broad in its class – comparable to VW Golf 3, but ergonomics is disgusting. The front seats have enough side support, too soft, fast wear, bottom is perfectly flat. The center console body is protruding, and even if you are not so tall place it ahead, his right knee against the console and ignition switch. The radio was invented and put stupid, you have to deviate much attention to handle it. Headlight switch is to switch the stove. The pros are dobarta visibility silent wiper and wonderful light from the headlights. Complete with numerous pockets for small items. The boot is a normal class, but good decisions is more convenient to use than the Audi 80 for example.

VW Polo

VW Polo Cross Polo 1.4

Impression management / suspension, stability, ride a VW POLO:
Suspension – for now seamlessly. The ride is rather good for the class of car. Because of the short basis, however, the car was very unstable, especially at speeds above 100 km / h The steering wheel is too light and informative, perfect for delicate feminine hands, but feel that “keep the car in your hands” is gone. Manoeuvrability is satisfactory. Size tires you are using is 165/70/14. Summer – Dunlop – nyaam need to comment. Winter – Lassa – a pleasant surprise. And the biggest snow does not yield a far more elite brands.

Main disadvantages of VW POLO:

Dynamics and ergonomics – specifically their total loss, high price for a small car.

Main advantages of VW POLO:

VW Polo

2012 VW Polo 2

Economy (which, however, renders the high price), strong headlights maneuverability.

Features support for VW POLO:

More of 1,000 km changed the clutch. Other – established creaking rear light bulb headlights.
